I was assigned as PM several weeks after this difficult and challenging 30 week project was initiated. My post-project summary report highlighted several areas for potential improvement, including design/development methodologies, increased standardization, and greater accountability between engineering disciplines.
Automotive Redesign
Software Defined Audio
This project of automotive audio and infotainment investigated moving the signal processing from amplifiers to headunits or VCUs. This revealed significant savings in hardware (BoM) and development costs, as well as reduction of in-house hardware variants, reliance on specific industry vendors, and lower program TCO.
Process Engineering & Cost Analysis
Commercial Vehicle Power Supply Units
This project involved a complete product tear-down, analysis of product design & manufacturing, comparing / contrasting competitive products, and implementing cost-effective design and assembly improvements.

I have worked on multiple vehicle tear-downs and created many comprehensive engineering reports, several of them over 1,000 pages.

Disassembly, photography, component identification, system description, report creation, etc. all require coordination, communication, and dedicated effort.
As always, the devil is in the details.
Material Handling System
ASRS, Pallet Racking, Smart Conveyor System
This Alabama project was star-crossed from the beginning: record rainfall delayed construction of the customer's new warehouse by many weeks. Working without water, electricity, or four walls on the building was initially the project's greatest difficulty. But then a global pandemic left work crews quarantined in Europe and California, as well as wreaking havoc with the material delivery schedule. Fun times!
